Trip to Louisville

Today, along with three friends I went to Louisville to see two quilt shows.

The first show was held at the Water Tower. I'm not sure exactally when it was built but I did find out that it was flooded sometime in 1913. Of course, it is built right next to the Kentucky river. I imagine it has been flooded a number of times. Anyway, it is a very interesting looking building, and the show consisted of six art quilters. Very interesting, very visual and they are all different.

Then we went to the Carnagie Center in New Albany, Indiana. This was a one person show that was also part of the other show. Her name is Jaunity Yeager, and I was really blown away by her work. She has come a long way from the time I first met her. Anyway, as we were driving home we got into the usual discussion that art quiters get into. Simply put, what direction am I headed with my work. My comment was --- don't you think it depends on whether you are trying to do something that a lot of other people are going to see, or whether you are just trying new techniques with the hopes that you will turn out something new. So, this discussion went on for some time, and I think we all concluded we were each at different stages, so there was no easy answer. I think you will know when you get where you want. Anyway, it is not the end result but the journey, and the sharing of ideas.
