I have been playing again. These are fabric beads. So much fun to make and it also uses up scraps and etc.

I just wanted to let everybody know that there will be no Yoga class this morning. Sorry, but I took a flu shot yesterday, and can not reach overhead, plus running a bit of a fever. Hope to see you on Thursday as usual.

Mother's Love
I have finally decided that it has come a time in my life when I need to downscale. We are going to put our three story house up for sale after the first of the year and buy something on one level.
To be able to do this I need to begin to let loose of some of my quilts. So, I have decided that once a week I will list a quilt, give discriptions, background, size and price.
This quilt is named Mother's Love. It was made in 2010 and is number three of a series of house quilts I made expressly for a solo show that was held at the main library during the World Equestrian Games in 2010, held in Lexington, Ky.
It is 47" wide and 42 1/2" long. I am quite well known for the Stained Glass Technique which is the main technique I work in and have taught a class on it for a number of years as well as an Internet class.
It showed at several major quilt shows.
The price is $l,800.00

Quilted Jewelry
Art Quilt group challenge
Several years ago I started an Art Quilt group. We meet once a month at our local quilt store and share whatever we are working on.
Recently I was cleaning out my studio and came across a bag of scraps left over from when I would square up my quilts.
Since these scraps were already sandwiched and quilted I thought I would through out a challenge for the members to come up with an idea for something small made from the scraps.
One of the ladies made a belt, another a small purse. ( I will get pictures and post later)
This is the idea I came up with and I had so much fun doing them I actually made 4 pieces. (I'll post the others a little later)
So, I took the fabric and drew a shape, and then outlined the shape with Copper Sulky sliver thread. Once I did that I cut out the shape and then went over the edges again. After doing that I simply played with stenciling, stamping, painting and finally glued some rhinstones. I was very pleased with the way they came out and also pleased I had found a way to recycle.

Super Market Handbags
I just finished this handbag. It is made from Walmart plastic bags and strips of hand dyed fabric. I'm considering selling these bags locally.
This handbag is made from Kroger plastic bags and strips of hand dyed fabric.
Very east to do, in fact I'm teaching a group of ladies how to do it this coming Saturday.

FRIENDS FOREVER!
Luna and Bagel are now friends forever. He (the black beagle) just turned 12 years old. Luna, our new dog is just 4 years old. It took a little while for her to settle in because she was used to being crated. Now they are best buds and she has learned the routine from him. We still miss Sally, but she has brought life back into the house and it has been so much fun watching them bond.
CHANGED
I went to post a picture this morning, and blogger has completely changed things. I guess it is going to take some time for me to figure this out.

OUR NEW DOG
Life has come back into our house once again. I found the most beautiful dog by the name of Luna. She is four years old and truly a sweet soul.
The black dog is Bagel the Beagle.
He came to us as a puppy and is now 10 years old soon to be 11.
He is the most good natured dog I have ever encountered. I did a quilt of him quite a few years ago and if I can find it I will republish it.
Many of you know that we lost our other dog named Sally about a month ago. She was 13 almost 14 years old and had congestive heart disease. She never complained and just kept on trying right up until her last day. I still miss her so much and always will but but bringing a new dog into the house really makes a difference.

New Quilt
Lately I have been experimenting with new techniques.
This small quilt was started by putting Wonder Under on the back of the background pieces and ironing them directly to Hobbs Heirloom cotton batting. This is what Melody Johnson advocates. It really makes everything very stable. The sky is a hand dyed piece and then I designed some sort of funky pine trees.
My idea with this piece was to quilt it with decorative embrodery stitches on my machine and of course straight stitch. That worked well, but there were certain parts I felt needed to freemotion. Such as the sky. So, since this is my quilt and I could do whatever I wanted to do, I continued to push the limit and used some heavy decorative threads, and then put the yellow piping between the quilt and the border. It is a little whimical which is what I working towards and I am pleased with the results.

Latest Purchase
I found this bobbin holder at JoAnn's the other day, plus I was able to use my 40% coupon on it, so in the end it cost somewhere around $6.00. I have bought many things over the years to keep bobbins in but this one really does work, plus it keeps the ends of the thread in place. It is made of a flexible plastic, so each one of those little pinchers holds a bobbin, and the layers swivel around also. On a scale of 1-10 its a 10.

Sally
We got Sally in August of 1998.
She was the cutiest puppy I have ever seen. She was so smart, but really had a mind of her own. She slept with me every night, and kept close tabs on me at all times.
She had congestive heart disease, and about a week ago it began to affect her kidneys. We lost her yesterday, very suddenly. I guess her heart just couldn't cope anymore.
My husband and I are going to miss her more than we can say.

Cincinnati IQA show
On Friday April 13th, I went to the Quilt show in Cincinnati. I had my camera with me but I didn't take any pictures because I was rushed as we were headed home to Lexington Ky at 3:00 pm. However as I was leaving I couldn't resist taking the time to take a picture of Susan Carlson's dog quilt. I had seen this sometime before, but I love her work and I love the fact that she used mostly polka dot fabrics. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did.
